Why KidLit? Because kids' books inform, inspire, and encourage lifelong learning and empathy. KidLit creators support kids and teachers, the people I've always supported.
I'm totally kid LIT:
Not sure what's holding you back? Maybe you wonder how or where to start, how to get unstuck, what to do next, or why something you want so much isn't happening. I can help you get past that. Who do you want to be?
If insecurity or the chaos of creativity makes you wonder if you're cut out for this, but you can't shake the desire, then you're a perfect candidate for coaching. How do I know? I've been there. The first time I sent something in, it was rejected, so I didn't submit anything again for about 15 years. I've spent decades learning all I could about the creative process in order to help others find more joy and meaning in their lives.
Children's books open worlds and save lives. We need many varied voices and perspectives to reach all children. That's why I teach, encourage, and support the creators of children's books. If this has been your dream, let me help you. It not you, who? If not now, when?

I booked a coaching session with Deb Lund, hoping she might be able to help me break through a creative block. Not only did I come away from the session with a plethora of ideas for dealing with the fierce "inner critic" that has plagued me for years, but I now feel empowered to show more compassion for myself in all areas of my life. Thank you, Deb, for gifting me with the attitude adjustment I so desperately needed.

I got you, and we all got each other!
I'm a dabbler in the arts. From my first love of art, to writing, to acting, to my music degree, to enjoying dance, and to creating an arts-integrated school... But I didn't believe the arts could be my life. That's why I'm determined to help others claim their creativity and find more joy and meaning in their lives.
Writing in rhyme is not easy. There’s more to it than ending with rhyming words. Writing about how to rhyme is never as effective as having someone work with you on a rhyming manuscript. You need more than nudges and accountability—even more than helping you get out of your own way, all of which my creativity coaching can do. But rhyming takes so much more, as you’ve probably figured out since you’re reading this, and if you’re ready to dig in and work, this is the package for you.
"But I heard you say you didn't want any rhyming manuscripts!" That's what I said to the editor who ended up publishing my first dinobooks.
"We all say that because all we get is bad rhyme!"
Ohhhh... Let's change that, shall we?
Why would I do this instead of using the time to work on my own projects? Because kids’ books are important, and it’s hard for me to see the rhythm and rhyme not quite there, as is often the case in many books I read. Books encourage empathy, connect families, and help kids see themselves with new understanding. They change lives, and it’s annoying and unfortunate to find rhyming errors that could have been easily fixed. This is a way I can make a difference for the little kids who experience them, and the much bigger “kids” who create them. Besides, the editors who know the difference between the best and "just okay" rhyming manuscripts don't always have or take the time to work with you to get it just right. If you're getting more No's than Go's, let's talk.
I'm here when you're ready. Ready now?
Let’s set up a complementary phone consultation to see if we agree we're a good fit for working together. If we both agree we’re a match, we'll set up a plan, which often generally follows the format outlined here:
It’s been a joy to see clients get published and to have had that connection we first made through this process. I'm looking forward to meeting you, so please accept my invitation to talk, whether we take this leap together or not. The world needs your books. Keep writing!
